Your jap is yours. This policy describes exactly what Naam Jap Sathi ("the app", made by WillingWorks) collects, why, and what never leaves your phone.
What stays on your device
Counting happens on your device. In voice jap, audio is processed on the phone by your device's own speech recogniser — no audio is ever recorded, stored, or uploaded, and no audio reaches our servers or any third party. Your local session history lives on your phone.
What we collect and why
- Your phone number — used solely to create and sign in to your account (verified via Firebase Authentication, a Google service).
- Your practice data — counts, sessions, streaks, sankalp, badges, and settings — synced to our servers so your jap follows you to a new phone. Stored on Amazon Web Services in the Mumbai (ap-south-1) region.
- Your name and optional photo — shown only to you, and on the leaderboard only if you opt in.
- Crash diagnostics — if the app fails, the crash itself is reported to Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service) so it can be fixed: what went wrong, your device model and OS version. No jap content, no naam, no counts, and nothing that identifies you personally.
We collect nothing else: no contacts, no location, no advertising identifiers, no analytics profiles, and we never sell or share your data for advertising.
Leaderboard
The daily leaderboard shows only the name you go by in the app, your country, and today's count. You are never on the board without a name. You can opt out any time in Settings, and opting out removes you from the board immediately.
Payments
Purchases are processed entirely by Google through Google Play. We never see or store your card or payment details; our servers receive only a confirmation that a purchase is valid.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account (Settings → Profile → Delete account) permanently erases your data from our servers. You may also request deletion by email.
Children
Naam Jap is a general-audience app for spiritual practice and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
